Let's Plan Ahead for National Night Out 2007 Tigard Police encourages neighborhoods to start planning an event for this year's National Night Out. Target, the national sponsor for the crime prevention event, is also taking the opportunity to join in with the community's celebrations. This year, an expected 33 million people in more than 10,000 communities across America will join forces on Tuesday, August 7th to promote police-community partnerships. The Tigard Police Department invites you and your neighborhood to be a part of this celebration of neighborhood unity and awareness to bring safety and reduced crime and violence to Tigard! Locally, the Target store located at 9009 SW Hall Blvd. in Tigard, is partnering with the Tigard Police in efforts to encourage the community to work together to reduce crime and make neighborhoods safer. In doing so, Target will be hosting a National Night Out "kick-off" celebration at the store on Saturday, August 4th from 11AM until 1PM. Tigard area residents can obtain tips, handouts, giveaways and other related items to help stay safe. There are also plans for product samplings and contests to win prizes that encourage safety! Tigard residents can also register for National Night Out during the event. To further encourage participation in National Night Out, Target will also be assembling "party packs" with fun and useful items to add more excitement to the neighborhood celebrations. National Night Out "party packs" prepared by Target, will be provided to individual neighborhood organizers to share with their neighbors. It's a fun way for Tigard citizens to help give crime a "going away party!" To be eligible, simply pre-register your neighborhood with Tigard Police.
