Tigard Police Arrest Burglary Suspect Tuesday afternoon at approximately 1:10pm, Tigard Police received a call of a burglary at a residence located at 13745 SW 110th Ave in Tigard. A family member returning home found a door damaged. About the same time, they heard sounds which appeared stemming from the side of the home. The intruder may likely had been interrupted and left hastily. An observant neighbor witnessed a man running through their back yard, climbing a fence and ultimately appeared at the front of the home from where he emerged. The witness recalled seeing the suspect wearing a red shirt as he ran in the yard, however was shirtless as he ran from the area.
Moments later when Tigard Police arrived and checked the area, it was determined
an intruder was in the home and stole property from the residence. A containment
was established in the area along with a K-9 search. The dog track had negative
results. Later that afternoon a Tigard officer on routine patrol in the area of Tigard High School spotted a shirtless man walking down Durham Rd. near 87th Ave. The officer's attention was drawn to the man's appearance which matched the description of the suspect seen in the area of the burglary earlier. Officer McDonald detained and questioned the suspect, now known to be 45 year old Brett Delain Sorenson of NE 80th in Portland. Property known to have been taken in the burglary was found to be in the suspect's possession after a search. Sorenson was lodged at the Washington County Jail on charges of Burglary I. Tigard investigators will also be checking for any possible connection to other reported burglaries in the area. Once again, the initiative of observant neighbors proved to be instrumental in assisting police locating criminals. Police would like to remind citizens that the non-emergency telephone number for police assistance may be used to report suspicious circumstances. The number to call in Tigard and all of Washington County is 503-629-0111. |
