Portland Man Shot While Attempting To Steal A Vehicle
An eighteen year old was shot late Wednesday night in what appeared to be an attempted vehicle theft. The vehicle was parked in a lot at the Georgetown Apartments located at 9050 SW Scholls Ferry Rd in Tigard. Another man was also in the vehicle when it appeared they were discovered by a group of men who at this time appeared connected to the vehicle. The second man apparently became involved in a physical altercation with group of men after being discovered in the vehicle. He was ultimately able to run away. Shortly after police located him at a nearby hotel. Two females are also being investigated by Tigard Police in their connection to the attempted vehicle theft.

Police are investigating all the factors involved including the details on the number of shots fired at the men attempting to steal the car. After the shots were fired, the two females who drove the suspects to the apartment complex, picked up the gunshot victim and drove off. They ultimately ended up at a gas station about 2 blocks away and asked the station attendant to call for help because someone was shot. The victim was transported from the location to OHSU. Initial information did not indicate life threatening injuries.

At one point, approximately 30 patrol units were assisting in establishing containment and searching the area. Police from Beaverton, Hillsboro and the Washington County Sheriff's Office assisted Tigard officers and detectives with the crime scene. No arrests have been made yet. Tigard Police Detectives are continuing their investigation. The case will likely be determined by the Washington County District Attorneys office.
