Gaarde Street – Construction Notice/Street Closure
Gaarde Street from 121st Avenue to Pacific Hwy (99W) and 121st Avenue from Gaarde Street to north of Rose Vista Drive

Gaarde Street and a portion of 121st Avenue will generally be closed for construction from March 1, 2004 through June 22, 2004. When the Contractor is not working and the street is deemed safe for vehicular travel, the street would be open for thru traffic after construction hours and on weekends. However, as a general rule, thru traffic will not be permitted during construction hours. Access will be limited to "Local Access Only". Local Access is only allowed for residents living within the construction zone (barricades) or those doing business within the construction zone.

The attached map shows the detour route and highlights the properties permitted to use Gaarde Street or 121st Avenue when the street is closed to thru traffic. Delays may occur for up to 20 minutes. The City strongly encourages the public to use the detour route at all times to avoid possible safety hazards.

The ability to provide safety to the public, safety to the construction crew and to have a quality finished product is of paramount importance to the City. Therefore, during the times the road is closed to thru traffic, the road closure will be strictly enforced. Persons who enter the road closure area who are not considered "Local Access" will be cited per ORS 811.265. This violation has a minimum $375 fine.
