Public Works Director Resigns to Accept Position with Clatsop County The City of Tigard's Public Works Director, Ed Wegner, has resigned to accept the position of Public Works Director for Clatsop County. After spending many weekends in the area with his family he is looking forward to the opportunity. Ed came to the City of Tigard as Public Works Director in January 1994. During his tenure with the City he oversaw the major expansion of Cook Park, the addition of two new parks to the City's park system, and major improvements in Summerlake and Woodard Park. Ed also served as the City's Emergency Manager with responsibility for developing and testing the City's Emergency Operations Plan. Ed's most notable contributions to the City however were in the area of water. He was instrumental in keeping the City focused in its pursuit of a long term water supply, initiating a strong water conservation program, and introducing the Aquifer Storage Recovery program. Ed also was involved in the community as a member of the Tigard Morning Rotary serving as President in 2002-03. "I appreciate all the wonderful experiences working with the City of Tigard," said Wegner. Upon accepting his resignation, City Manager Bill Monahan said "I wish Ed all the best and thank him for the contributions that he has made to the City. Ed's leadership made the difference as we pursued a permanent source of drinking water. Ed kept the City focused on the task and has delivered the Joint Water Commission membership that accomplishes much of our goal. Taking on this new challenge should be rewarding and exciting for Ed." Mr. Wegner's last workday with the City will be February 6, 2004. |
