Community Television Program Wins National Award Tualatin Valley Television, your local community television station, was awarded the Communicator Crystal Award of Excellence for the Korean War: 50th Anniversary video produced for the City of Tigard. The program covered the recent Korean War Commemoration, described by Former Tigard Mayor Jim Griffiths: "The theme of the three-year Korean War commemoration project was Freedom Isn't Free. The city and the Tigard American Legion Post 158 took part in the national program to honor local veterans and their families who have paid a price to preserve the freedom we all enjoy." TVTV entered the video in the Cable TV/Community Access category. The Crystal Award of Excellence is the highest honor bestowed by the Communicators and is given to those entrants whose ability to communication elevates them among the best in the field. This award was given to only 15% of the entries received. There were 2,867 entries from 48 states, the District of Columbia and 11 other Countries. TVTV is listed on the Communicator website (www.communicator-awards.com) with the other Excellence winners. TVTV is also proud to announce that our High School Football coverage received an Honorable Mention from the Communicators. Honorable Mention is given to those entries that meet the industry standards for production. The Communicator Awards is an international awards competition that recognizes outstanding works in the communications field. Entries are judged by industry professionals who look for entries whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry. TVTV is the non-profit organization that manages the public, education and government (PEG) access channels on the Comcast cable system in 14 jurisdictions in the Tualatin Valley. TVTV, founded in 1994, is supported by funding from cable franchise fees through a contract with the Metropolitan Area Communications Commission and Comcast. |
