Road Sanding Procedures for the Bull Mountain Area
With the elements of winter falling upon us the City of Tigard would like to remind Bull Mountain residents that Tigard is responsible for providing sanding services to the majority of the area. Currently, the City of Tigard and Washington County maintain a cooperative agreement in which Tigard agrees to include an additional 2 mile loop on Bull Mountain to its regular sanding response area. In return, Washington County furnishes the sanding rock to the City of Tigard.

During an ice or snow event Bull Mountain residents will see Tigard Public Works crews along the sanding route which includes Bull Mountain Road, 150th Avenue and Beef Bend Road. Due to our proximity, Tigard is able to provide sanding response services in the early morning hours when school closures and other safety decision need to be made.

Tigard's Sanding Response Plan provides sanding to all major and minor collector routes within the City. If, and when, annexation occurs, the City of Tigard will be responsible for sanding all major and minor collector routes within the Bull Mountain area, adding over 6 miles of streets to the current sanding route. The goal of the Sanding Response Plan is to begin sanding routes at 4 a.m. to ensure a safe and trouble-free morning commute.
