Construction Progress Update on Two Sewer District Projects
Construction is well underway on two Sanitary Sewer Reimbursement District Projects authorized by City Council on August 27, 2003. Dunn Construction, Inc. is installing sewer main line extensions and service laterals to serve 46 lots in the Park Street, Derry Dell Court, and Watkins Avenue area. The construction contract for that project is $485,895. The project began in early October and expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Kerr Contractors, Inc. is contracted to install sanitary sewer main lines and laterals to serve 36 lots in the O’Mara Street and McDonald Street area. The construction contract for this project is $366,664. This project is also expected to be completed by the end of calendar year 2003.

These two projects are part of the Citywide Sewer Extension Program authorized by City Council in 2001 to provide sewer service to developed but unserved residential lots throughout the City. At the beginning of the program, approximately 675 residential lots were identified as developed but unserved by sewer. By the end of FY 2003-04, 195 new sewer laterals should be available for connection. The remaining 480 sewer services are proposed to be completed during the next three to four years.

Some of the projects identified for FY 2004-05 have already been designed and are ready for implementation. Those projects will be submitted for inclusion in the Capital Improvement Program formulation process during the next three to four months. The schedule for completion of the Citywide Sewer Extension Program will be discussed with City Council at the workshop meeting on November 25, 2003.
