Friendly Visitor Program

Do you know a reader who can’t get to the Library?
Tell them about the Tigard Library’s Friendly Visitor Program!

The service is free and offered to area residents recovering from an illness or injury, to persons who no longer drive, and to people who live in long term care facilities.

Friendly Visitor volunteers have been screened with the Oregon State Police and are ready to bring you or a loved one large print books, books-on-tape, audio tapes or CDs and more. Additional Library Outreach services are available through the Washington County Cooperative Library Services.

For more information about Friendly Visitors or other Outreach services, please contact Ann-Marie Anderson, Reference Librarian, by email at annmarie@tigard-or.gov or by phone at 503-684-6537, ext. 2650.

Also Seeking Friendly Visitor Volunteers...
Volunteers are needed to select and deliver library materials to Tigard area patrons who can’t get to the library on their own.
  • Training provided.
  • Highly flexible schedule and hours.
Question:
What do Friendly Visitors do?
Answer: They take books and other library materials to people who can’t otherwise get to the Library. They visit, share interests, and talk with the homebound.

Question:
Who qualifies to be a Friendly Visitor?
Answer: Sincere people who care about people, books, and learning are invited to participate in our next training session. Friendly Visitors must provide their own transportation and are subject to state criminal and DMV background checks.

Question:
How may I find out more?
Answer: Please contact Trish Stormont, Volunteer Coordinator 503-684-6537, x2516 or email trish@tigard-or.gov
