Evening Book Discussion Group

The March book is Mark Greenside's I'll Never Be French (No Matter What I Do): Living in a Small Village in Brittany. The group meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Grace Tigard Houghton Room on the second floor of the Library. Registration is not required and new members are always welcome.

Discover the unique sounds of this stringed instrument from India. Rose Okada brings the "voice of a thousand colors" for an up-close look at the sarangi's tones and traditions.

Introduction to Ornamental Tree Pruning
Wednesday, April 7 * 1:30-2:30 p.m. * Community Room

Phil Hickey from Pacific Arbor Consulting will teach the basics of pruning ornamental trees, the different types of pruning techniques, how to make a proper pruning cut and how to prune select branches for good canopy structure and form. The class will also cover the do's and don'ts of ornamental pruning.

Minds @ Play: Wii Sports for Boomers & Seniors
Monday, April 12* 2-3:30 p.m. * Community Room

Calling all boomers and seniors! Join us for the debut of our Wii™ Sports series and learn how to bowl, golf, play tennis or baseball with the Wii™ gaming system. All you need is the ability to swing your arm while holding the Wii's™ small controller. We'll show you the rest. Try your hand at more traditional games, too.

Morning Book Discussion Group

Join others in a group discussion about The Dead of Winter by Rennie Airth. The murder of a young Polish girl in wartime London puts John Madden on the trail of a ruthless hired killer. This third novel in the Madden series is rich with psychological insights and vivid historical details.

The group meets on the second Tuesday morning of each month from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Grace Tigard Houghton Room on the second floor of the Library. Registration is not required. New members are always welcome.

Hearing Voices 2010 Storytelling Festival Finale

Join us for the 6th Annual Hearing Voices Storytelling Festival featuring nationally known storyteller Willy Claflin. Nuestro Canto & The Brody Theater will also perform. Thank you to the Friends of the Library for their generous support of Hearing Voices.

Missoula Floods
Thursday April 22 * 7-8:30 p.m. * Community Room

Scott Burns, co-author of the new book Cataclysms on the Columbia will talk about the Ice Age floods that formed the Columbia River Gorge and shaped much of our region. Dr. Burns, a Portland State University geology professor and Tualatin resident, will cover the great story of J. Harlen Bretz, pioneer researcher of the Ice Age Floods and new research on the topic.
