A Visit with Oregon Poet Laureate Paulann Petersen
Friday, September 24 * 7-8:30 p.m. * Community Room
Oregon's new Poet Laureate Paulann Petersen will read from her own work and lead a brief
poem-writing workshop. All participants will leave with their own poem. Paulann Peterson was
appointed Oregon Poet Laureate by Governor Ted Kulongoski.
The Poet Laureate program is a collaborative project of the state's five cultural partners:
Oregon Arts Commission, Oregon Heritage Commission, Oregon Historical Society, Oregon Humanities
and the State Historic Preservation Office. It is funded by the Oregon Cultural Trust.

Murder Mystery Party at the Library

A "murder" has occurred in the library! Adults are invited to join us for this interactive event featuring classic literary characters. You are encouraged to mingle, question your fellow "suspects" and "witnesses," uncover clues and compare notes with other sleuths to solve the crime. The first person to solve the mystery will win a mysterious prize. Light refreshments will be provided.

On the 73rd anniversary of Kristallnacht, the first nationwide Nazi pogrom against the Jews of Germany, the Tigard Library will host local Holocaust survivors who will speak about their experiences during Nazi persecution.

Oregon's Greatest Natural Disasters

Local author and hiker extraordinaire William Sullivan tells the dramatic story of the floods, earthquakes, forest fires, eruptions and tsunamis that have shaped Oregon and impacted its people over the past 13,000 years. Sullivan also will discuss the impact that we are having on the planet and what might be in store for Oregon in the future.
