Commuter Rail

Concept design of self-propelled
diesel train for proposed
commuter line.
One of five stops in the proposed Washington County Commuter Rail will be in downtown Tigard, near the intersection of Commercial and Main Street. Interest in the commuter rail system was a key motivation for Tigard's concerned citizens and business owners to come together and ask the City to prepare a revitalization plan for Main Street and surrounding neighborhoods. The new station could play an important role in the revitalization of downtown Tigard.

The Tigard station will feature a park-and-ride facility with over 100 spaces (to be built on vacated railway right-of-way). The station will connect to the existing Tigard Transit Center and five TriMet bus lines. The location of this transportation option could invite new housing development, and other private investment.
