| Volunteer Opportunities at the City!

Clerical Volunteers Sharpen Skills and Gain Work Experience
City of Tigard departments have ongoing volunteer clerical opportunities available now.
Clerical projects may involve one time assignments such as assisting with large mailings
or organizing reference information. Other longer term projects are also available.
Responsible students over 16 years old are encouraged to contact Volunteer Program
staff about summer opportunities. Computer skills, accuracy and reliability are important traits for clerical
volunteer applicants. Some opportunities may require volunteer background checks.
For more information about clerical projects and volunteer opportunities contact Bob Roth, Volunteer Program

4th Annual
Family Fest:
September 11-13, 2008
Calling All Families, Groups, Teams and Individuals!
The Family Fest Planning Committee is looking for volunteers to assist
with Tigard’s 4th Annual Family Fest Celebration coming this fall:
September 11, 12 and 13, 2008.
We need helpers Saturday, September 13 during the 5K Run/Walk. Tasks include
marking the route for runners and walkers, handing out free t-shirts at
registration, distributing water to participants along the path and
recording times at the finish line.
The committee would like to add a Night Skate event to highlight the new
Jim Griffith Memorial Skate Park. We’re looking for a group to
coordinate this event.
Sign up to help out by contacting Joanne Bengtson
at 503-718-2476 or Bob Roth at 503-718-2422.

Gardeners Needed!
Itchin’ to use that green thumb? Then become a volunteer gardener!
Volunteer gardeners tend Tigard’s two large community gardens: the Tupling
Butterfly Garden at Cook Park and the Sorg Rhododendron Garden at
Summerlake Park. Volunteers work at their own pace and set their
own schedules, including evenings and weekends. Time commitments
can vary from a half an hour to many hours a week. Gardening tools
are provided. Give back to your community and enjoy the relaxed
settings offered at both gardens.
For more information on this event, contact Volunteer and
Surface Water Quality Coordinator Carla Staedter at 503-718-2788 or
carla@tigard-or.gov.
