Fanno Creek Trail Project (Main Street to Grant Avenue)
January 2012
The City of Tigard plans to construct a trail from Main Street to Grant Avenue. This trail
will become part of the Fanno Creek Trail, an important link in our regional trail system.
The project will connect an existing trail, located just north of the George Morlan
Plumbing Supply property, to Grant Avenue to the west and to the existing asphalt
pathway located under Pacific Highway (99W) to the east.
The trail area is overgrown with Himalaya blackberry and
other invasive plant species that deter recreation and
threaten stream habitat. The trail project will remove
invasive species and provide native plantings, trees and
wetland grasses to enhance wildlife habitat and the water
quality of Fanno Creek.
The project supports the City's effort to restore Tigard's
traditional downtown to its original status as the
center for commerce, transportation, recreation and
government. More Tigard residents will be able to walk
or bike to the downtown—a direct safe and convenient
route, and an affordable transportation option for Tigard
residents.
