City of Tigard Park System Master Plan Update
The City of Tigard is embarking on an effort to update the community's Park System
Master Plan, the document that guides park, recreation, open space, and trail
development in the city. The City's Park and Recreation Advisory Board will
lead this process. Much has changed in Tigard over the ten years since the
past Park System Master Plan was adopted in 1999. It is time to check
in with the community to make sure that the projects and priorities
for parks and recreation match the current needs of residents.
In addition to the past master plan, the planning process will
build on the community priorities developed during the recent
update to the Parks, Recreation, Trails and Open Space element
of the City's Comprehensive Plan.
The planning process is beginning this spring and continuing to the end of
2008. The community will be the key player in guiding this update, which
will be informed by City staff and facilitated by MIG, Inc. There will be
many opportunities for the public to be involved in the process, including
a community visioning workshop, a park and recreation questionnaire, a
telephone survey (calling a sample of Tigard residents), an information
booth at a community event this summer, stakeholder interviews and a
questionnaire for sports groups. Your Park and Recreation Advisory
Board will also be holding meetings focused on the plan update
throughout the process. For more details please check back at
this site often.
There will be a number of planning documents available on this site
for the public to review and keep up with the process including
updated data about the city and the park system, analysis of community
needs, and summaries of project meetings. If you would like to
receive updates about the planning process, please check back in
at this page and in the Cityscape newsletter.
