Tips to Protect Children from Lead Poisoning

Helpful Tips
  1. Have their blood lead tested! Kid putting on shoe

  2. Have children play on grass instead of bare dirt. Take off shoes when entering the house to avoid tracking in soil that may contain lead.

  3. Meals high in iron, vitamin C and calcium help prevent young bodies from absorbing lead.

  4. Wash hands, pacifiers, toys and stuffed animals frequently.

  5. Baby bottle Use only cold water for drinking, cooking or making baby formula. Run the water 15 to 30 seconds until it feels noticeably colder.

  6. You may be eligible for a free lead test for your tap water. Call the LeadLine at 503-988-4000 to find out how.
