Reuse

What Does "Reuse" Mean?
  • Reusing materials extends the life of an item and prevents the need to purchase other goods.
  • Reusing products is even better than recycling - the item does not need to be reprocessed before it can be used again.
  • Reusing materials can reduce waste disposal and handling costs.
  • Reusing materials will avoid the costs of recycling, municipal composting, landfilling, and combustion.
Examples of How to Reuse
When you reuse, you help conserve resources and reduce pollution, including greenhouse gases.
  • Shop at and hold garage sales or donate your old clothes and other products to charity.
  • Buy products that will last and take care of them.
  • Buy a battery charger and recharge and reuse batteries.
  • Use both sides of each piece of paper or create note pads by stapling together once-used paper.
  • Check out books from your local library or used book store.
  • Join in with neighbors to purchase infrequently used products such as lawn mowers, ladders, etc.
  • Use durable coffee mugs and cloth napkins or towels.
  • Participate in a paint collection and reuse program.
  • Reuse your plastic or paper bags at the grocery store.
