Oregon E-Cycles, a statewide program that began January 1, 2009, provides free recycling
of computers (laptops and desktops), monitors and TVs. The program is financed by
electronics manufacturers and jointly implemented with the Oregon Department of
Environmental Quality (DEQ).How it works Anyone bringing seven or fewer items may recycle them at no charge at participating collection sites throughout the state. All brands of computers, monitors and TVs are accepted at all locations. Households, small businesses and small nonprofit organizations (those with 10 or fewer employees) may be able to bring in more than seven items at one visit, but should call the collection site ahead of time before doing so. Unless noted, the program does not include free recycling of cell phones, computer peripherals such as keyboards, mice, speakers, printers, scanners or other electronic items such as fax machines or DVD players.
