The City of Tigard's Solid Waste and Recycling Program was designed to help
answer any questions and work together to solve solid waste and recycling issues.
Recycling is just one of the ways to reduce waste! To be really effective,
we have to incorporate the 3R's.
Reducing the amount of waste we produce is by far the MOST EFFECTIVE way to
battle the flow of garbage into the landfill. Packaging makes up about half
our garbage by volume, one-third by weight. Click here
to find out how to reduce your waste.
What we cannot reduce we should try to reuse. You can repair your old radio rather
than buy a new one or use jars, tins, and plastic containers to store leftovers.

Materials and packaging that cannot be reused should be recycled at home, work and
school. You can contribute to recycling by purchasing recycled and recyclable products.

All of the City of Tigard's solid waste and recycling functions are
performed by its two franchised haulers: Pride Disposal Company and
Waste Management. These businesses' activities, such as rate changes
and schedules, are controlled by Tigard's City Council
and by Chapter 459 of the Oregon Revised Statutes.
