Free Sandbags Are Available
The City of Tigard provides a sandbag site for Tigard citizens and businesses.
This is a self-serve site open 24/7 and is located directly across the street from the
Public Works Building at 8777 SW Burnham. The sandbag station has sand bags and sand available, but you
may want to bring your own shovel.
Sandbag Safety Tips

Use proper lifting techniques to avoid injury and fatigue.
Lift with your legs and bend at the knees to save your back.

Sandbags are treated to prevent deterioration when stored.
Use work gloves and avoid contact with your eyes or mouth.

Stay in eye contact with heavy equipment operators and keep
alert for truck backup alarms.

Floodwaters can be polluted. Use rubber gloves and appropriate
clothing if contact with water is unavoidable.

Wear adequate clothing in layers and watertight boots. Reflective
material on outer clothing is essential for night work.
