Leaf Disposal and Food Drive: A Huge Success in 2011!
The City of Tigard held four Leaf Disposal and Food Drive events in the fall of 2011.
The goal was to keep leaves off roadways and out of storm drains by giving residents a
no-cost way to dispose of leaves. In conjunction with the leaf disposal, the city
collected food items for Tigard’s St. Vincent de Paul food distribution facility.
The Leaf Disposal and Food Drive event has grown considerably since its inception in 2002.
A mere 160 yards of leaves were collected in 2002, compared to 1,000 yards in 2011.
Food donations have jumped from five barrels in 2002 to 31 barrels in 2011.
The city wishes to thank all 885 residents who dropped off leaves and donated food. You
helped to make the 2011 Leaf Disposal and Food Drive another huge success.
See you next year!
