Engineering

The Public Works Engineering Division is managed by the City Engineer. This division is responsible for the design and construction of capital improvement projects in accordance with City standards. The division also focuses on Citywide and regional transportation issues, as well as seeking to improve traffic circulation and enhancing pedestrian and bicycle safety.

The capital improvement program (CIP) includes projects for public streets, parks, City-owned facilities, sanitary sewer, storm drainage and the water system. Engineering staff are also responsible for the development of system master plans that address future improvement needs. Capital improvement projects may include new facilities, expansion of existing facilities to increase capacity, and rehabilitation, renovation or reconstruction of existing facilities to improve efficiency and extend useful service life.
