Municipal Court

Tigard Municipal Court is the judicial branch of city government. It provides a local forum for the resolution of cases within its limited jurisdiction. The court administers the following programs under state law and the Tigard Municipal Code:

  • Traffic Court: Includes violations of the Rules of the Road and offenses relating to licenses and insurance (En espanol). Major traffic crimes, like Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants and Reckless Driving, are cited into the Washington County Circuit Court in Hillsboro.

  • Civil Infractions: Violations of the Tigard Municipal Code, including neighborhood nuisances and violations of the zoning, sign and business-license ordinances.

  • Youth Court: By agreement with the Washington County Juvenile Department, the Tigard Youth Court adjudicates specified misdemeanors and status offenses of juvenile first offenders.

  • Adult Misdemeanors: The court adjudicates limited adult misdemeanors under the Tigard Municipal Code and Oregon law.

Court Hours and Location:
The court is located in the Tigard City Hall at 13125 SW Hall Blvd., Tigard, OR 97223. The court counter is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday–Friday. The court accepts cash, checks, money orders and VISA, MasterCard and Discover Card for payment of fines.

NOTE #1: If you wish to pay your fine by mail, please make your check or money order payable to the City of Tigard, include the citation number on the check or money order, and attach your traffic citation. You may also submit a written explanation if you wish. If you decide to plead guilty or no contest by regular mail you must submit the full base fine amount for each violation on your citation.

NOTE #2: If you wish to pay your fine online, you will be required to plead guilty during that process.

If you want to appear before a judge on a traffic citation or civil infraction, you must appear at your scheduled arraignment. The specific date and time for your appearance are stated on the front of the citation or complaint.

Other arraignments, hearings and trials are conducted on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, depending on the court's docket. You will not be able to appear before a judge unless your case has been placed on the court docket in advance.
