General Information The City of Tigard offers full time and part time career opportunities in a variety of occupational areas. How Job Vacancies Are Announced The list of positions open for application is updated as vacancies occur; announcements contain the job title, salary and closing date of position. The City of Tigard City Hall is located at 13125 SW Hall Blvd., in Tigard, Oregon. Interested applicants may request an application packet for the positions currently available by leaving a recorded message on the 24-hour jobline at 503-624-9471. How to Apply A separate application must be submitted for each position applied for and received by Human Resources by the closing date and time listed on the job announcement. We do not accept applications that are emailed. Please fax, mail or hand deliver your signed application materials to Human Resources as directed on the job announcement. Applications received by the City become the property of the City of Tigard and cannot be returned. Applicants are encouraged to keep a copy of their applications. What Happens After an Application is Received? Applications are thoroughly reviewed and screened according to the requirements listed in the job announcement. Candidates who best meet the requirements of the position will proceed to the second phase of the recruitment process. The Human Resources Department will contact candidates selected for interviews. This process may take from two to three weeks after the closing date. Salary All salary rates are posted on each job announcement. Newly hired employees are normally hired at the first step in the pay range listed for that job. Drug Free Workplace/Background Checks The City of Tigard is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace. Some positions require pre-employment drug testing, passing a medical exam and/or a police background check. Job related reference checks will be conducted prior to employment being offered. Immigration Law Employment of any individual will be contingent upon presentation of acceptable documents verifying identity and authorization for employment in the United States, in accordance with the Immigration and Reform Control Act of 1986. When Will I Know? Every person applying for a City of Tigard position is notified as to the status of their application within thirty days from the deadline on the job announcement. Notifications are sent to applicants who have not been selected for an interview; who are interviewed but not selected; and to applicants who have been selected.
