Small-Fix Congestion Solutions ($160,000)
|
|
|
Tigard has received $160,000 for small-fix congestion
solutions.
These are smaller projects at key locations that can help traffic move better
without having to widen roads or do major construction.
Signal Left Turn Flashing Yellow Arrows ($80,000)
New video helps drivers safely navigate
the new flashing yellow arrows.
Construction has been completed on the ARRA stimulus-funded project to install 'flashing
yellow arrow' left turn signals at many intersections throughout Tigard. These
signals show a flashing yellow arrow allowing drivers to turn left when
there are gaps in opposing traffic and no pedestrians in the crosswalk.
Drivers were previously stuck waiting at a red arrow.
We are looking forward to spending less time waiting at red arrows,
while still keeping a good level of safety.

Signal Detection Conversion to Video ($80,000)
This project has converted several traffic signals from an inductive loop
vehicle detection system to a video detection system. This allows
easier lane reconfiguration for improved traffic efficiency. This
was part of a larger Washington County project. The actual funding
was from leftover ARRA transportation stimulus funds in Washington
County.
Project Schedule:
Project is completed.
