10MG Reservoir Improvements and Transfer Pump Station   ($4.796 million)

Project Description - 10MG Reservoir Improvements and Transfer Pump Station
Grant money will be used to repair and retrofit the existing ten-million gallon terminal reservoir, abandon the exiting pump station, construct a new pump station, install backup power generation to the new pump station and to the existing Aquifer Storage and Recovery Well, and construct site improvements.

The project is funded with Federal Funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act ($2,398,000) and through the Safe Drinking Water Revolving Loan Fund ($2,398,000).

Project Status
Project Update 9-1-2010
Through October, the contractor is excavating for the proposed pump station and valve vault. This phase of the project entails excavating, moving, and transferring material on and offsite. The contractor is operating heavy excavating equipment and loading and unloading dump trucks. As the excavation increases in depth, the contractor will install a temporary shoring system in order to keep the excavation pit from collapsing. Shoring is a general term used in construction to describe the process of supporting a structure in order to prevent collapse so construction can proceed. For this project, the process involves excavating five feet in depth, installing shoring nails, applying a steel mesh and covering with concrete.

Project Update 8-1-2010

Portland General Electric and Comcast have underground their utilities along Bull Mountain Road. The next phase of the project will be the excavation for the new pump station and valve vault. Starting this week and continuing into September, you will experience excavation equipment, dump trucks, concrete trucks and other excavation and shoring equipment.
