Beaverton-Tualatin Hwy (Hall Blvd) Crosswalk
|
Pedestrians will soon be able to cross Hall Boulevard, north of Fanno Creek or just south of City Hall with ease using a new pedestrian activated signal. The Crosswalk signal will include solar-powered flashing warning beacons, at and in advance of, the crosswalk; warning signage; and crosswalk markings.
The new crosswalk will provide connectivity to the existing Fanno Creek trail west of Hall Boulevard and the new trail on the east side of the street. The crosswalk will be constructed at about the same time with this project under a separate contract.
Both projects promote the ongoing efforts of the City to enhance public safety through off-street pathways while ensuring habitat-friendly development.
This project will be funded through Washington County's MSTIP 3 Bike/Pedestrian fund and local funds.

A contract has been awarded to Signal Construction to install the crosswalk light.
Shop drawings submitted by the contractor to the City and ODOT have been approved by
both agencies. An ODOT permit has been issued for construction within the State's
right-of-way. Because ordering of the signal equipment may take up to 3 months,
installation of the signal will not be until late-January or early-February of 2010.
