The Legislative Process of the Comprehensive Plan Update has begun.
This includes Planning Commission workshops and hearings on updated
Comprehensive Plan Chapters. Planning Commission action will be followed
up with City Council workshops and hearings. Staff will be bringing
updated goals, policies, and recommended action measures through the
legislative process as a series of Comprehensive Plan Amendments during
the next several months. These amendments will reflect current
community conditions and values and will result in a complete update
of all Statewide Planning Goals affecting the City of Tigard.

The City of Tigard invites you to join one or more of Tigard's "Policy Interest" teams.
These teams will be made up of people just like you. Each team will have the opportunity
to give their valuable input into Tigard's public policy. This will not require a huge
time commitment on your part. Depending on the topic of interest, these teams will,
for the most part, meet just 3 or 4 times. Due to the nature and complexity of some topics,
additional meetings may be needed. This is an excellent opportunity to have your
voice and ideas heard. We are eager to hear from you regarding our City policy in
several different areas.

Here's Where it All Begins: Tigard 2007!
|
This 252-page report documents Tigard today. It establishes the factual basis
that the community will use to develop updated Plan policies, beginning in
spring 2007. Tigard 2007 evolved through nine public meetings with the Planning
Commission, and includes the Cover
and Table of Contents, Natural Resources,
Environmental Quality,
Community,
Public Facilities and Services, and
Transportation. You can also view a hard
copy of this document at the Permit Center or the Library.

The City's Planning
Commission will lead the process as the Steering Committee during their regularly scheduled
public meetings. The Committee for Citizen
Involvement will help implement the Public Involvement Program. They reviewed
the program structure and will continue to provide feedback throughout the process,
as well as help with public events.
The updated Plan will be based on the issues and values expressed by the community
through the visioning process,
public surveys over the past few years, public input
throughout the process, and key findings from Tigard 2007.
The visioning process has played an important role over the past 10 years, but
will now be folded into the updated Comprehensive Plan. This will ensure
the visioning work is formalized
into goals, policies, and action measures. The result will be a tool for
decision-makers and citizens to use when seeking policy direction and the
vision for the future.
