The City's guiding documents relative to affordable housing policy are the Tigard
Comprehensive Plan and the community visioning report,
Tigard Beyond Tomorrow.
The Comprehensive Plan policies reflect the City's commitment to maintaining a
variety of housing choices and to removing barriers to the development of
affordable housing. The community visioning goals and strategies reflect
citizen support for the application of a variety of locally appropriate
measures to promote affordable housing.
The City has undertaken a variety of voluntary actions to support and enhance
opportunities for affordable housing. These are described in the City of
Tigard Affordable Housing Program report. These adopted policies, goals,
strategies, and voluntary actions reflect the City's current level of effort
to meet the affordable housing needs of the community and to improve the
quality of life for its low income residents.
