Keep neighborhood harmony intact
Before inquiring about enforcement action, it is strongly recommended that, if you
feel your neighbors have a potential code violation, you always try to work out the
problems with them first. Talk to your neighbors; they may not even be aware there
is a potential problem with their property. Working out the issues together can
maintain neighborhood harmony, and you may all be happier for the effort.
-
Free Mediation Program
If you are unable to reach an agreement, or if you have a non-code related neighbor
issue, you may also try the free City of
Tigard Mediation Program. This service is
available to Tigard citizens and is paid for entirely by the City. Trained mediators
run the mediation program and have experience in neighbor disputes and many other issues.
The mediators will often do negotiations by phone for the convenience of both parties,
and have been largely successful in alleviating tensions and solving issues between
disputing parties. The mediation service can be reached by calling 503-526-2523.

Who can assist you?
If you are still experiencing a problem with a potential code violation, another alternative
is to find out if the complaint is a violation of City code. Enforcement action is complaint
driven. If you have a possible code violation to report, you will need to provide the address
of the property you are reporting. All complaints are public record; anonymous complaints are
not accepted.
