Tigard Tree Board
The Tigard Tree Board, comprised of local volunteers, is instrumental in
developing and administering Tigard's Tree Policy. The Board was established
on January 23, 2001 to develop and administer a comprehensive tree management
program for the maintenance, removal, replacement and protection of trees on
public property. On May 22, 2007 the mission of the board was expanded to
develop a comprehensive City
Tree Stewardship and Urban Forest Enhancement Program throughout the city.
Tree Board Meetings:
The Tree Board usually meets on the 1st Wednesday of the month. Meetings are open
to the public and citizens may submit public testimony on items before the Board.

Current Tree Board Programs:
- City Tree Stewardship and Urban Forest Enhancement Project
On May 22, 2007, the Tigard City Council
approved Resolution 07-30
adopting an interim charge statement for the Tree Board. Through this
resolution, the Council substantially expanded the authority and
duties of the Tree Board to enable a comprehensive tree management
and urban forest enhancement program across the whole of the city.
Prior to May 22, 2007 the Tree Board was limited to tree management
on publicly owned lands. This interim expansion of authority
coincides with the ongoing update of the
City's Comprehensive
Plan and is intended to address citizen concerns and regulatory inadequacies
regarding the current management of the urban forest and other natural resources.
For more information, contact the City Arborist at 503-718-2700 or email
todd@tigard-or.gov.
- Heritage Tree Program
This program was developed by the Tigard Tree Board as a method to identify
and raise public awareness of rare/exceptional trees due to their age,
size, species, horticultural quality or historical importance.
- Street Tree Planting Program
The City of Tigard supports the planting of trees on both public and private
property in order to maximize the environmental and aesthetic benefits
provided by trees.
