Voters Approve Parks Bond

On November 2, 2010, Tigard voters approved a $17 million parks bond. Most of the bond proceeds will be used to buy park land and open space. Here�s what been accomplished to date...

Park and Recreation Advisory Board 2012 Goals (no prioritization intended)

Pursue a citywide recreation program along with research and inventory of existing recreation offerings.
Ensure bond measure progress and support the City Center Advisory Committee (CCAC) with downtown use of bond measure funds.
Maintain Park and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) transparency and public communications.
Review City of Tigard open spaces and make recommendations.
Research alternative park and recreation funding for 2012-2013 and beyond.

Board Overview
Woodard Park

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board was created on April 22, 2003 by a unanimous vote of the City Council.

The Board consists of seven citizen members appointed by the City Council for four-year terms. The Council also appoints alternate Board members. There are also two ex-officio members: one from the Tigard-Tualatin School Board, and the other from the Tigard Planning Commission.

The Board consists of the following members: David Brown, Hong Dao, Peggy Faber, Gordon Kunkle, Marshall Henry, Troy Mears, Holly Polivka and Gary Romans (Alternate).

The Board has responsibility to advise the Public Works Director and City Council regarding park and recreation policies, budget, facilities, programs and other needs of the community to provide quality park and recreation services. The function of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is established in the Tigard Municipal Code (2.12.010—2.12.070).

Please share with the Board your comments on the City's parks and facilities, and also your thoughts on recreation opportunities in Tigard for all ages, abilities, and interests—from passive to active.
