Pacific Hwy/99W Intersection Improvements

Pacific Hwy/99W Construction
Intersection Improvements:
- Greenburg & Main at Pacific Hwy/99W
- Hall Boulevard at Pacific Hwy/99W

Construction is underway on Pacific Highway at Hall Boulevard, Greenburg Road and Main Street. Tigard is working with Washington County, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), and consultant W&H Pacific to improve traffic flow and safety.

The project will include:
  • A third through-lane on Pacific Highway through both intersections to move traffic.
  • Additional turn lanes on the side streets for more efficient intersection operation.
  • Better roadway geometry for improved safety.
  • Extending the existing median island on Pacific Highway from Hall Boulevard to Highway 217.
  • Wider sidewalks, new bike lanes, improved pedestrian crossings, as well as updated bus stops and shelters.
  • Corners with a larger turning radius to improve the flow of truck traffic.
  • Landscaping to improve the aesthetics of this central area of our community which includes adding four to five trees for every tree we have to remove during construction.
Background:
Kerr Contractors, Inc. has been awarded the contract.

Most of the work will be done at night in order to minimize traffic disruption, but some congestion is inevitable due to high traffic volumes. Funding for this project comes from the Tigard City Gas Tax, Washington County, and State Gas Tax revenues.

Liberty Park on Main Street..."What about the Christmas Tree?"
In 1976 we celebrated the United States Bi-Centennial. Across the country, communities undertook projects to commemorate this historic event. Here in Tigard we created Liberty Park at Main Street and Pacific Highway. We have continued to use this park for our annual Christmas tree lighting event, which is one of our larger community events. On sunny weekends people even enjoy a nice lunch under the trees.

Wait, you might say, the trees are coming down and the park is a mess. If you've driven by the construction on Pacific Highway at Main Street and Greenburg Road you have probably wondered, "what about the Christmas tree?" The tree will be staying, along with a few others. Several trees were removed for the widening of Pacific Highway and Main Street. The project plans call for several new trees to be planted. A new planted median, with trees, will also be constructed on Main Street from Pacific Highway to Scoffins Street.

Liberty Park will live on.
